Petunias continue to rank among the most popular flowering annuals. They look great from spring until fall and they are amazingly easy to grow, both in the garden and in containers. Petunias need full sun to look their best and produce the most flowers. They like well drained soil. For container growing, plant them with a good potting mix. When planting in a garden bed, condition the soil with organic matter, such as cotton burr or well-rotted leaf compost. Petunias are heavy feeders and will perform spendidly with regular feeding. |

| Hellebore's are commonly called Lenten Rose because of their bloom time. They are great shade loving perennials. Hellebores require a moist, shaded site and respond especially well to planting under deep-rooted deciduous trees. A bit of lime under the mulch enhances growth and flowering. Supply these basics, however, and Hellebores generally prove tenacious and long-lived, tolerant of drought once rooted in. This is evergreen perennial will grow to one foot tall. |

Vanilla Strawberry is a delicious new creation from France. The enormous flower panicles are a blend of vanilla and strawberry, held upright on red stems. They emerge creamy white in mid summer, change to pink and finally to strawberry red. New blooms gives the plant a multicolored effect in late summer and early fall. The red coloration persists for at least 3-4 weeks. The habit is upright becoming cascading later in the season. Comparable to 'Pinky Winky', however the habit is more upright and the red flower color persists longer. Excellent for fresh cut and dried flower arrangements. Introduced by Bailey Nurseries. | The foliage show starts in early spring as buds unfurl to red, mature to yellow-orange and change by early summer to light yellow-green, often margined in red. Seiryu has an upright, vase-shaped form and displays finely dissected lacy green foliage. It is an excellent accent, wonderful focal point for a patio or foundation planting. The fall foliage turns an interesting purple-brown then brilliant red. Seiryu is slow grower, reaching 10 to 15 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide at maturity. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Watering can be reduced after establishment. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. Prune in the winter while dormant. |

'Confucius' has a full, upright form and is an excellent choice for any landscape. It will grow 4-5' tall by 3' wide. It prefers moist, well-drained soil with afternoon shade in the summer.
